The Juddith table is a solid Douglas Fir dining table developed in response to a brief centred around the clarity, economy and structure found in Donald Judd's work. Several design options were explored, each using different joinery approaches, and this configuration emerged as the most balanced in terms of proportion and visual rhythm.
The table uses a system of Asian-inspired interlocking joints that allow the entire structure to be assembled with a mallet and without screws or metal fittings. This approach keeps the construction expressive and readable while ensuring the table can be easily disassembled and moved between homes when required.
Douglas Fir was selected to align with the surrounding timber furniture and to bring a warm, even tone across the surfaces. The soft finish highlights the grain and keeps the overall presence understated, matching the simplicity of its structural layout.
